Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we turn the calendar to May, we are entering a season of significant milestones and celebrations for our students and staff alike. We hope you had a restful weekend and are ready for an action-packed week ahead!
🍎 Celebrating Our Educators: Teacher Appreciation Week
This week marks a very special occasion as we recognize National Teacher Appreciation Day on Tuesday, May 5th. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated team of educators at ITMMS who go above and beyond for our children every day.
To help celebrate our wonderful staff, the PTSA is generously sponsoring a Staff Recognition Luncheon this Friday. We extend our sincere gratitude to the PTSA for their continued support and kindness toward our school community. If you see a teacher this week, please join us in thanking them for all they do!
📚 Academics & Arts
-
NYS Math Assessments: Testing will take place on Monday and Tuesday. We are utilizing the same structure as the previous ELA assessments to ensure a familiar, supportive environment where students can confidently demonstrate their hard work.
-
Spring Concert: Join us tonight, May 4th, for a wonderful evening of music! Our Grade 7 and 8 students will be performing at the High School starting at 7:00 PM.
🚌 Learning on the Move
Travel and experiential learning are at the forefront of our schedule this week:
-
8th Grade Washington D.C. Trip: Our 8th graders will have a final prep meeting during 5th period on Tuesday. The group departs Wednesday morning and returns Friday evening. We wish them a safe and educational journey to our nation’s capital!
-
5th Grade Field Trip: On Wednesday, our 5th-grade students will visit the Nassau County Police Training and Intelligence Center to learn about the vital work of law enforcement.
🤝 A Community of Growth
Beyond these major events, our building remains a hub of activity. Whether our students are in the classroom, on a stage, or out in the field, we remain deeply proud of their commitment and spirit.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership in making every week at ITMMS a success. Let’s make it a great week!
