Hello students, families and friends of Island Trees Memorial Middle School. We hope you are having a great summer and that you are finding the time to rest and relax in the company of family and friends. Like all of you, I will be sending my children to school in September--this time for their first year of high school. With this comes so much excitement and just a little bit of nervousness. As someone who has "been in middle school" now for 27 years, I know that the nervousness that comes with the start of new year is natural, and that they, and all of you, will have a great school year.

We look with great excitement to the return of your children on Tuesday, September 5th. There has been significant work done this summer by our teachers and staff in the areas of curriculum development and instructional design. Our summer staff has worked diligently to prepare for the coming year, and your children will return to a school that is committed to the highest standards in middle-level learning. I do believe that you will quickly recognize our school's ability to balance challenging curricula with the social-emotional needs of our students.

We look forward to working alongside all of you to best support your children. Please be sure to stay connected to our school by routinely checking the Parent Portal, reading our school's newsletters, reviewing our school bulletin (which is updated each morning and can be found on our school's homepage), and following us on social media. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out directly to your child's teachers or school leadership if you have any questions or concerns.

As you review our soon to be update Home-School Connection newsletter, please take a look at some of the resources and articles provided. While each selection may not apply directly to our students or to your child, it is important that we work together to promote positive and healthy decision-making and that we are aware of the issues facing young adolescents.

On behalf of the entire Island Trees Memorial Middle School staff, we look with great excitement to the coming school year and the opportunity to help your children grow in all ways.

Sincerely,

Mr. Keegan & Ms. Steele
