Principal's Message

Dear Students, Families, and Friends of Island Trees Memorial Middle School,

We hope you are having a wonderful summer and finding time to rest and relax in the company of family and friends. Like you, I will be sending my children off to school in September—this time for the final year of high school! With a milestone like this comes plenty of excitement, along with a little bit of natural nervousness. Having been in education for my entire career, I know that the jitters that accompany the start of a new school year are completely natural. I am confident that our students, families, and staff are going to have a fantastic year ahead.

We look forward with great excitement to the return of your children on Tuesday, September 1st. Our teachers and staff have engaged in significant work over the summer in the areas of curriculum development and instructional design. Likewise, our dedicated summer staff has worked diligently to prepare our facilities for the coming year. Your children will return to a school committed to the highest standards in middle-level learning, and we believe you will quickly recognize our ability to balance a challenging curriculum with the social-emotional needs of our students.

Working alongside all of you is essential to best support your children throughout their middle school journey. Please be sure to stay connected with us by routinely checking the Parent Portal, reading our school newsletters, reviewing our daily bulletin on the school homepage each morning, and following our updates on social media. As you review our updated Home-School Connection newsletter, we encourage you to explore the featured resources and articles provided. While each selection may not apply directly to every student or family, working together helps us promote positive, healthy decision-making and keeps us aware of the unique issues facing young adolescents.
